There is a unique magic to the Queensland coastline, but you don’t truly realize the scale of it until you see it from above. Recently, I took my drone out to Elliott Heads to capture the dramatic meeting of the river mouth, the sandbars, and the open ocean.
This session wasn’t just a hobby flight—it marks the beginning of my transition into professional drone photography and aerial media services.
The Gear: Testing the Air 3S
To capture the massive scope of the Elliott Heads landscape, I utilized the DJI Air 3S. Its advanced camera system and improved dynamic range are incredible for tackling the high-contrast environment of a coastal sunset. The drone effortlessly locked in the sharp details of the shifting sand textures below while beautifully preserving the soft, glowing gradients of the evening sky.
Using Kuula to stitch and host these interactive 360-degree panoramas allows me to share the full experience of being there, turning a single viewpoint into an immersive digital environment you can look around in.
Flying Responsible: CASA Accredited
Even though this is purely a hobby, I believe in doing things properly. I hold an official CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) accreditation and always fly under standard recreational rules.
Operating responsibly means respecting airspace, keeping a safe distance from people, and ensuring every flight is safe and compliant. Having that official backing gives me peace of mind every time I launch into the sky to capture these beautiful views.
